The early gunfire last night was just the beginning. Grrrrr! The fireworks and sporadic gunfire went on until close to 1AM last night. It had both of us on edge from the beginning, so it was much later than planned when we finally fell asleep. I don't really begin to understand the desire to celebrate quite so vehemently (i.e., by shooting weapons) to celebrate the start of a new year? I am often reminded of the fact that, technological issues aside, we really aren't much different from our tribal ancestors in attitude.
Anyway, I hope everyone's year is off to a good start.
