Is It Cursed?...

We used to live in the San Bernardino Mountains, near Lake Arrowhead. We had a neighbor, 'T', who had some anger issues, maybe a little paranoia, and...? Anyway, at one point we earned his ire (his wife came to mine claiming he had hurt their newborn, and we had to report it), and he began harassing us(even while in uniform as a reserve sheriff's deputy). We survived it, and moved away. Things didn't go as well for him. Eventually he moved away, taking his mail-order bride and their two babies with them. They are living, from what we hear, just across the border in Mexico in a 24-foot motorhome, struggling to survive.

When he moved away, he sold the house to a couple (with some creative financing). Shortly after the couple moved in, the husband went to jail for spousal abuse. His wife fled, with their children, in the middle of the night. The property came back to 'T'.

He again creatively financed a deal. This time, to an elderly couple looking for a small retirement home in the mountains. Shortly after they moved in, the husband was diagnosed with a rare cancer. It wasn't long before he passed away. The property again reverted to 'T'.

A real estate investor purchased the property this time, planning to flip the home quickly. There was a boom on mountain real estate at this point, but she couldn't find a seller. People weren't even coming to see it. (The mountains there are a relatively small place, and it was probably already seeming ill-omened to the locals) She ended up having to move into the home. Heavy snows fell. A huge branch overhanging the house broke off and plunged through the roof, pinning the woman to the bed while causing her some serious injuries. It was almost a day-and-a-half before she was found. The only thing that saved her from hypothermia was that the needle-covered branch provided some insulation, along with the bed.

The house has been standing empty ever since. Mountain folk believe its cursed and are hoping it falls down one day soon. Is it? 'T' had a lot of problems, and a lot of anger. A curse? Bad karma? Residual negative energy? Who knows...?
