Happy Findings About Health Risks #1...

In his book entitled The Pleasure Prescription, the late Paul Pearsall, Ph.D., set out to illustrate how our modern Western lifestyle is far too serious, pessimistic, and self-destructive. He offered up the Oceanic lifestyle as an alternative (more on that soon). One of the things he decried was what he referred to as "health terrorism". He felt, as do others still, that we worry far too much about our health, embracing a multitude of ideas as "facts" which are far from proven, often downright false, and that this course is, in fact, even injurious to us. He felt it more important to live fully in the moment, embracing whatever life brings our way. I agree wholeheartedly, and am going to start listing his "Twenty Happy Findings About Health Risks".

Here's the first one..."Don't worry about the most commonly used medical test results. Low blood pressure and cholesterol levels are not the best predictors of health and longevity."

He cited N. Silver's "Do Optomists Live Longer?" American Health, Nov 1986 and H. Dreher's The Immune Power Personality, New York, Dutton Books, 1995.
